Welcome to NCAR-61
The next National Conference on the Advancement of Research (NCAR-61) is scheduled for October 22-24, 2008 in Savannah, Georgia, and will focus on “WATER: Recourse for a Resource.”
The two-day conference will offer research and development (R&D) executives, laboratory directors, policymakers and other senior leaders in the R&D field the opportunity for interaction among a broad range of technical disciplines representing government, industry, academia, and R&D-related nonprofit organizations.
The National Conference on the Advancement of Research began 60 years ago and has been held almost annually since then. The Conference grew out of experiences during and immediately following World War II, when government interest and investment transformed the scientific and research communities of the United States. The success of significant war-related research projects convinced many in the government and much of the public of the benefits produced by R&D and, therefore, the need for continuing large-scale scientific efforts. NCAR remains the only forum where leaders from all four R&D sectors - government, industry, academia, and nonprofit organizations - meet to discuss common issues.
NCAR-61 is hosted by the Georgia Institute of Technology, Savannah Campus.
